BC Lightning Spring 2026 Evaluations!
Do you want to be part of one of the best spring hockey development programs in the Lower Mainland!
Our 2026 Spring Identification Skates will take place on Sept. 30, and Oct. 24, 2025.
Our evaluation process consists of two evaluation skates for each age group. It is best that players attend both skates so our evaluators can get more than one opportunity to evaluate your player. The more our coaches and evaluators see a player, the better the evaluation will be. Having said that, players that are only able to attend one of the tryout skates will still have the same opportunity to be selected for one of our teams, however the decision will be based on only the one evaluation.
The fee for evaluations is $120 +GST. This fee includes both skates, regardless if you are able to attend both or not. Evaluation fees are Non-refundable.
Evaluation skates will have a skill based component as well as game (scrimmage) component. There will be a minimum of three off-ice paid evaluators at each skate as well as on ice/bench coaches who will also be evaluating players. Goalies will be evaluated by goalie coaches.
Confirmed roster spots may begin to be offered after the first evaluation date to some players. We hope to have our Spring rosters substantially completed by December 31, 2025. The rostering process does take time, so please be patient as we work through the process, we will advise all evaluation participants whether they have made a BCL team or not.
NEW for Spring 2026: Historically our "Black" or "Elite" teams were made up of 90%+ HPL Players who were exempt from attending our evaluations. For the 2026 Spring Season, the HPL Bandits fall/winter teams will remain together and compete through the Spring season unaffiliated with BC Lightning. This means that all roster spots for our top team for Spring 2026 are open and will be selected from our evaluation process. The BC Lightning hopes to have two teams in each age group from 2019's up to 2013's for the 2026 Spring Season, however this will depend on ice allocation and evaluation registration numbers. BCL teams will compete in tournaments and divisions deemed suitable for their level and aim to provide a fun yet competitive experience for the players. Players on our BCL teams typically play other spring sports, and require a time commitment of up to 2 hours on ice per week and 1 hour off-ice (U10 and up), as well as three tournament weekends. Our goal is to provide all of our teams with one travel (inside BC) tournament and two local events.
IMPORTANT - **Where our ice allocations or evaluation registration numbers do not allow for the formation of two competitive teams in an age group, we will only build one team.**
